ABOUT ME

Hi, I’m Dr. Nikki D. Robertson-Griffin, a school librarian, educator, speaker, writer, and advocate for the power of libraries, technology, and connection to transform learning.

For more than 33 years, I have had the joy of serving students and educators in elementary and secondary school libraries across rural, inner-city, and suburban communities. No matter the setting, my work has always centered on creating library spaces where students feel seen, supported, curious, and empowered to grow as readers, thinkers, creators, and digital citizens.

I currently serve as a school librarian in Hutto ISD in Texas, where I support students and teachers through reading programs, instructional collaboration, digital learning, and library-centered innovation. I am also honored to be a Past President of the ISTE Librarians Network and regularly present at national, state, and regional conferences on school libraries, educational technology, professional learning, and Future Ready librarianship.

I earned my Ph.D. in Psychology with an emphasis in Integrating Technology, Learning, and Psychology. My dissertation, How School Librarians Describe Their Experiences Within Facebook Groups for Their Professional Learning, reflects one of my strongest beliefs: educators are better when they are connected, supported, and learning alongside one another.

I am the author of Connected Librarians: Tap Social Media to Enhance Professional Development and Student Learning and have contributed to professional conversations through blogs, journals, podcasts, and publications including ISTE, School Library Journal, and Knowledge Quest. Over the years, I have also been honored with recognitions such as the ASLA Ann Marie Pipkin Technology Award, the AASL Bound to Stay Bound Grant, and the AASL Program Pioneer Social Media Superstar Award.

At the heart of everything I do is a deep belief in the life-changing power of stories. I love helping students discover books that matter to them, develop confidence in their own voices, and see themselves as part of a larger world of ideas, creativity, and possibility.

Outside of my professional life, I am grateful for my wonderful spouse, beautiful twin daughters, three adorable grandchildren, and two sweet dogs who keep life full, messy, funny, and joyful. I also love traveling, exploring new technologies, and connecting with educators around the world.
