    • ​Google Drive is a tremendous resource for educators for lesson planning, brainstorming, and other teacher-centered activities. However, there is even more potential in the ways Google Drive can be used with students. In face-to-face, blended, and online classes, Google Drive can be used for collaboration among students and with others outside the four walls of the classroom. As a face-to-face, blended, and online instructor, Nikki D Robertson has found that Google Drive allows her to easily incorporate interactive and collaborative learning experiences with students even if they are separated by distance and time. Join Nikki as she shares strategies and examples for using Google Drive for interaction in face-to-face, blended, and online courses.

    • ​Assigning engaging student projects and finding ways for students to easily collaborate - both inside and outside of class - can be challenging. Join Nikki D Robertson as she explores how Google Classroom can help ease these challenges and facilitate collaboration. Nikki will provide an overview of Google Classroom and show how to use it to easily assign projects to students. In addition, she will share examples of collaborative class and student projects that provide opportunities for student learning, creation, and feedback. Come discover how Google Classroom can help you take student collaboration to a whole new level! 

  • Add ons, Apps, Extensions! Oh My!

    • ​Would you like the ability for you and your students to be more productive and save time? Many of the free Google Drive add-ons, Chrome extensions and apps will help you do just that! Join Nikki D Robertson as she explores a variety of the Google Drive add-ons, such as Flubaroo, Kaizena, EasyBib, and more. In addition, she will showcase some slick Chrome extensions like Share to Classroom, Select and Speak, and Clearly and discuss how they can help teachers, administrators, and students work and learn more productively! ​​

  • ​Journey Through Time and Space with Google Maps

    • ​When you think about mapping, do you tend to think of it as an activity that is only done in social studies classes? Think again. Google Maps helps students explore the world around them. They can go virtually anywhere in the world because of Street View, Google Earth Pro is now free, and teachers and students can use Google Maps Engine Lite to create custom maps for a variety of projects.  Google Maps can even be used to tell non-fiction and fiction stories.

  • Using Google Hangouts for Mystery Calls and Other Class Projects

    • ​Google Hangouts is a versatile free tool that offers numerous learning opportunities in the classroom. Join Nikki D Robertson as she explains why Google Hangouts is one of her favorite Google tools for class and student projects. She will discuss how you can use Hangouts for a variety of projects and class activities, such as conducting Mystery Location or Mystery Number calls, gathering real-world data from other classes, sharing a guest speaker with several classes at once, and presenting our passions to others. Nikki will share how easy these are thanks to Google Hangouts.

  • NEWSELA + Google Docs = Differentiated, Collaborative Reading!

    • ​Finding nonfiction content at reading level with the varied reading levels that may exist within a single class, it can seem virtually impossible to have all students access the same content in a way that allows them to comprehend the material. Creating differentiated reading groups may seem equally unrealistic since it is impossible for a teacher to work with multiple students or groups all at the same time. Learn how to make the impossible...POSSIBLE in this session with Nikki D Robertson, using Newsela, Google Docs & a few cool extensions.
